We are Patrick and Michelle and together we formed 🌱Patchkinns Plants🌱 as a way to grow lots of Native Plants, Herbs and Veggies for our own landscaping and gardening projects. Turns out we now have plenty of plants and gardening knowledge to share.
About Michelle…
With an inherent love of nature I grew up exploring every nook and cranny of my parent’s long Island backyard. I fell in love with insects, plants, birds and everything in between and with encouragement from my grandparents I found myself pursuing volunteer opportunities at LINPI and wildlife rehabs. These interests led to an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science focused in Ecology which then led to an interest in sustainable agriculture. Now with 9 years of farming and counting under my belt I find myself circling back around to gardening and ecology and those ever interesting connections between plants, animals and humans alike. Using native plants to create beautiful and functional gardens I hope to restore wonder, curiosity and a love for nature back into our landscapes.
About Patrick…
I have always had a respect for and fascination with nature and wildlife, I would rather be outside most of the time. Through my experience in scouting from a cub scout to becoming an Eagle Scout I got a lot of exposure to hiking, bird watching and sitting out in the woods observing. I started snowboarding and surfing at a young age and believe in protecting our natural environment and waterways. I see native plant propagation and sustainable gardening as an opportunity to reconnect with our landscapes and give back to our local environment, carrying on the belief in “leaving places better than how you found it”.
